Memories of October 12, 1996

Many of you will remember this date, twelve years ago. It was the day I married Albert Hazen Smith! Today is very similar to that day, however the temperature is closer to what we would have liked, predicted to hit almost 80 degrees!!
This won't be a maudlin reflection on that ceremony-Albert would never approve of that.
It simply is a public savoring of the wonderful day we had, from start to finish!

The week itself was pretty trying. My little car was stolen on Tuesday morning-right out from the front of the house. Rain came down in bucks for at least three straight days. We were told the marzipan Acorns for the wedding cake couldn't be delivered on time!

Yet that week characterized the magic that Albert and I had together--we faced all the "problems" with humor rather than resignation. And we found easy solutions for them all. The very best was our creation of the Golden ACORN wedding treats that were half dark chocolate and half white chocolate. My playful Saggitarian nature loved those momentos--and they would never have been created without the series of negative events that week.

So in memory of that magic, I share a Smithean reflection-out of adversity the most surprising and joyful outcomes arise!

Yes, it's a sentiment much reprised in music and literature, and during these difficul times worth stating again and again.

So I'll celebrate today with happy memories and wise insights from happenings 12 years ago today!

At long last

Dear Friends,
Many of you have said I should start a blog. Well as you can see, I have just taken the first step.
I plan on posting my thoughts (insights?), on customer-focused business, management, personal growth, and of course current and future events.
You know me, I have or will formulate an opinion on most anything that I encounter.
The name of my blog is Acorn Insights.
For those of you who may not know--the "acorn" comes from my family crest-it is truly representative of the DNA that has been passed down from my German/Catholic father. Acorns represent, birth, growth, renewal and by extension HOPE.
"Insight" is the word many individuals use to describe my many observations about the world. Thus the name Acorn Insights!
I look forward to sharing my thoughts and inviting you and others to express their thoughts and ideas as well. Enjoy!
